Cloud replication is increasingly becoming a mandate because of multiple benefits, some of which include:
- Managing read traffic on your applications. Multiple copies can be made and distributed to reduce traffic hence preventing frequent crashes.
- A replica can behave as a source database instance when the source isn’t available, hence reducing downtime of the applications.
- The applications using MySQL database technologies are used for performing analysis and business reporting. So running such queries may be risky on source database instance. Those queries can be run on the replicas to let the performance of writes/updates on source database instance remain unaffected.
