With the explosion of bandwidth, memory and computing resources, the face of web hosting has changed. The resources that were once available only to users of dedicated servers are now within the grasp of even those with a limited budget. LAMP is probably the most popular combination of web technologies at present. It stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. The P could be Perl or Python, but neither of them ever comes close to being as widely adopted as PHP is today.
